You always seem to have a hot date, even though you never try to meet anyone.
A total charmer, you have a natural appeal that keeps you in high demand.

Your ideal Valentine's Day date: multiple dates with multiple people

Your flirting style: 100% natural

What turns you off: serious relationship talks

Why you're hot: you're totally addicting

http://www.blogthings.com/whatdoesyourcandyheartsayquiz/
Anyone that KNOWS me, really KNOWS ME- knows that this is a FALSE reading! LOL So NOT me. LOL You try

finally...made it out of my bed

Recoving slowly...day #2 of the ugliest flu I have ever had in my life! I spent from 1a.m. (Sunday/Monday) until about 2pm yesterday running from both ends....then Steve came home from his field trip doing the same....this morning we are both still running temps, weak and just running at the lower end.
YUCK! Two days off work...it is driving me nuts...just not me...I am losing control...HELP! How ever can they continue without me...LOL Yes, I know ...let it go. However, it is truly driving me nuts!
To the Hamlin family- I surely hope that I did not pass it on to Cory who brought it to you all...however, I am clueless as to where we picked it up? Sorry!
Maybe I can get enough energy built back up to scrap a little today? Yesterday all I did was 'run' and lay in bed...finally with Tylenol PM I got some sleep.
Happy Velentine's Day to you all....wishing you loads of love and bushelsand bunches of Xs and Os!

wisdom to share

I was IMPRESSED by the wisdom I heard come from my backseat last night after the WILD Miskegon Fury hockey game -
Three eleven year old boys were talking about the game on our way home....here is what I heard.... "Fighting never solves anything UNLESS it's in hockey!" stated Cory!
This coming from the wild child standing on his seat yelling at the other team "RED SUCKS!" every time a fight broke out! Gotta love that sweet young man....he is a HOOT!

hockey? or WWE?

The boys were entertained themselves between the excitement by the little bags that the toasted almonds came in...presto a hat! They were a HOOT!

Seventeen of us went to a Muskegon Fury (UHL) hockey game yesterday evening to celebrate Jake's 11th birthday! It was a sad game...my first ever where Muskegon was getting STOMPED ON! They played Kalamazoo Wings...and there is no love between the two teams. Then again, by my photos you may think otherwise...we saw a whole lot of 'hugging' going on.
Thanks for allowing me to borrow the kids...and thank you to those of you that joined us...

tooth fairy?

Big Steve is home hoping that the tooth fairy will bring him a surprise tonight while he is fast asleep! He did well- the dentist was amazed that he had actually been able to eat with that tooth as bad as it was. He is hanging in there- mashed potatoes for dinner and a Lofthouse cookie or two. Oh and a snitch or two of bacon...
He opted out of the Vicodin they wrote an RX for....decided Motrin would be plenty....I am thinking he is now wishing he had listened and just got it filled. OUCH!
So....we will let him rest and wait for the tooth fairy!

Candles in Waffles?

Happy Birthday Jakob!
He asked to have a candle in his breakfast about a week before....we trie a candle in a waffle....LOL It melted the candle. He wound up with a waffle that looked like a donut...we had to remove the middle---it was waxy!
This was taken at 6am- he was blowing the candle out....or snoring not sure?!!

Just hit me...11 years ago tonight....I was sick with bronchitis....sipping a dose of Robitussin....only to learn that in about 5 hours the Robitussin would work in adverse ways....my water broke when I coughed and
on Feb 10th, 1995 Jakob Tyler arrived!! @ 11:11AM!
He turns 11 at 11:11AM tomorrow.
Happy Birthday Mr. Jakob Tyler Barton!

inspired by.....

a new shirt! Ok, so I admit...this is a close up of my new shirt....that Beth asked me to scan my arm for her. It is an awesome combo of colors-my shirt was so disctracting at lunch today....I think Beth wanted to scrapbook! Ok- now I want to see the layout I inspired! :-)

They changed Steve's surgery at 3:30 this afternoon .........from next Friday morning to tomorrow at 2:15!
I am working till one then taking the BIG baby to have that tooth surgically removed. Stocked up on soup, icecream and mashed potatoes tonight!!

So many happenings and it is only

....................WEDNESDAY!
Jake's basketball tournaments have been cancelled...hate to say it but we were very happy! Jake's birthday is Friday so now we will head north and catch a hockey game on Sat! I called today and got 17 tickets....Jake is bringing 2 pals with us from Jackson....and then a friend from up north, a couple uncles, aunts and cousins and Grandpa will join us!
Jakob jammed his index finger good (BAD!). It is purple and very swollen! But I believe we are only jammed. OUCH!! His coach felt we may want to get it looked at...Grandpa looked tonight and said he is good to grow! :-)
Grandpa joined us tonight- he had the opportunity to see the boys shoot. He thought it was cool and the boys were very happy to show off!!
BIG Steve is having a wisdom tooth extracted next Friday morning. It started to cut through, got an abscess pocket and now is a MESS! His face was very swollen yesterday....now he is taking 1000 MG Penicillin a day until surgery!
I am scared to go to sleep and see what happens tomorrow.
G'night friends.

sick day

Ok- today is my sick day! Didn't get much rest last night....I do believe I have been poisoned by Wendy's chili. I was feeling ucky from the cold stuff I am fighting yesterday so I decided maybe warm chili would be good for lunch ...a few bites in to it -I stated to a co-worker that it tasted 'yucky'...then I tried to cut a larger piece of burger and saw it was RED and raw inside. I threw it out immediately BUT....felt not so good all afternoon (assumed it was the cold), got home....AND wow....my stomach started hurting like never before.....that's it!! Just a stomach ache with severe coming and going stabbing pains!! all night long.....finally fell asleep around 4AM! I was walking, rocking, laying, sitting, pacing.....ugh it would not stop! Steve thought for certain it was my appendix or gall bladder but I am truly thinking it is just the chili or a bug. NO MORE CHILI FOR THIS CHIC!
So, on a happier note...going to try to grab a nap...clean a little and work on a few crafty things.
Heading for a weekend.

Beth saves the day!

Thank you!! Just to give a quick recap for all of you that were unable to see her do it once again....she saved the day!
It was 4ish this afternoon when I called Beth and we were chatting away and I finishing things up ...mainly cleaning off my cluttered desk....walking around in my cubicle as I talked....I was reaching down to get something out of a file when I caught the back of my pant leg on the corner of my metal drawer...SURE ENOUGH....slick as a whistle...my pants tore...a straight line across the back of my thigh!!! UGH I was devastated....what was I to do???? then on the other end of the line Beth giggled just a little and then very calmly asked if I had any packing tape??? Packing tape??? then explained for me to go in the bathroom, turn my pants inside out and put packing tape over the tear and it should hold long enough for me to get home.
I did just that!! IT WORKED...and no one even knew what happened! HA!
Thanks Beth- you saved the day again!! Ok, I owe you ........................BIG!
Pack a roll of packing tape for vacation!!

Sizzlits

My alphabet is here!

Haircut

A New Haircut.....decided to give Beth's stylist a try today...and I think I love her. She is great and a sweet personality too! I have been struggling along for over a year looking for someone with creativity and knowledge. Can you believe that I am so fussy? I think it may have something to do with me being licensed ......makes me more critical? I am on my way back to long hair...she is so awesome, she even reinforced that long hair can be worn by middle aged women....my old stylist told me that at 35ish it was time to do away with the ponytails and long hair....so I tried short hair. I sooo miss the flexibility of long hair...in a rush, pull it up or back! Short hair...you have to style it or it looks like heck. Thanks Beth for the referral.

STRIKE!

For once we are hoping for strikes......... Oh! my dad and brothers will be proud. As a kid, the boys in my family were huge bowlers. ( I am the only girl and the baby...I was at dance when they were bowling) Now Lil Steve has picked up the sport and loves it. He is pretty darn good at it too for just starting! This is just his second week of bowling on the league....he bowled 2 games tonight ....a 94 and a 87. I couldn't bowl that if I was wearing my luckiest shoes with my four leaf clover tucked in my hat!
Go Steve Go!

Miracle Morning!

Miracles do happen! It is 656 am and everyone ...everyone of them are ready to go! All they need are coats and backpacks and we are out the door! I just had to share the miracle with you all...Way 2 GO Boys!
I explained to them this morning that I have to take them to school and make it to work by 8am....usually I take them across town to Tammy and they ride to school with her....this gives me time to make it to work without sweating bullets....well, today I will be flying out to Robinson Rd and then back downtown trying to make it to the clock by 8! I hear you all cheering me on.....thanks.

What R U Reading?

I finished another book....Janet Evanovich's Back to the Bedroom. I believe I am addicted to her books- I am going to start a new Debbie Macomber book tonight...I will pass it on to you when I am done Beth! :-)
I must admit.....the books right now are just passing the time as I amxiously await the delivery of my new SIZZIX SIZZLITS ALPHABET! Then I will be cutting letters, and number like there is no tomorrow. When is the next crop?

goodnight and goodbye weekend

Ugh, why do these weekend fly by so fast? I really enjoyed the day yesterday...didn't want it to end. Today started a little icky as Steve and I both woke up with killer sinus issues. Groceries were a must, struggled through that chore and have been plucking away at all the other Sunday routines. Laundry, lunches, a week at a glance ( checking the school calendar, game schedule, bowling leagues, shooting, ). Now to set the darn alarm clock to start a very busy week at work. I have a couple very busy days ahead at work...and the busy Barton boys are no dull calendar entries. BUT I got to scrapbook with my friends and order an alphabet for my Sidekick! I guess the weekend ended on an OK note.
Wishing you all a great work-week. ( I look forward to Friday!)

Guess who is addicted??

You guessed RIGHT! I am- I bought an alphabet for my Sizzix sidekick. HELP! I was ebay watching and found a steal! DH, I love you- Steve, walked up and asked me what I was looking at or for.....I explained.....and said I could not believe that retail cost for the sets is 129.99-149.99......so he told me to grab that one if it is the one I really liked. SNAG- it's mine.

CLASSIC ALPHABET set, which includes 35 DIES that make 140 SHAPES! With this set you get 4 times the value, because you receive the uppercase letters and shadows, lowercase letters and shadows, numbers and shadows and the punctuation and shadows! YEAH ladies I will be sharing at the next crop outing!!
Beth- you can borrow at the end of the week for the weekend if you want.....I know I will be going letter nuts for a day or two! I love that it is upper and lower with shadows and numbers and puncuation! C'mon- send it my way!

Lovin my sidekick!

MY favorite is the one here to the left! However, I have to say- I like them all this time.
I bought a Sizzix sidekick and some dies - and the diecuts used here are Doodlebug dies. Love them all!!

Just when I thought

...that our son was BIG for HIS AGE- he meets GODZILLA on the opposing team! Poor Jake was jumping and jumping trying to guard this young man....and the guy would just look down at him and smugly grin...and yeas that lit Jake up! The tall fellar was always standing under the basket ready to shoot, or should I say tip it in...there is no doubt in my mind that the big league is watching this one already! Good try Jake!

Thank you!

Just a quick note to say thanks to all...
Had a great time scrapbooking yesterday! The birthday goodies from Kristin, our very cool ribbons created by Jill , and Beth our coordinator! What an awesome group of scrappin gals! Thanks also to the awesome Mom and Rex for allowing us to move over to their house to continue cropping! I had a lot of fun and got some projects completed....when are we going again?? I am ready! Maybe we should head to Pages In Time?
I just got a letter from Crazy Croppin Chics up north if anyone is interested? I believe it is in Spring Lake...all meals and lodging included....Holiday Inn overlooking Spring Lake. The getaway is in March.
Thanks again ladies. I needed the creative jump start!

Rough and Tough?

NOT! How surprised was I when my quiet, laid back son announced to me when he walked in the door last night......"Mom, I have good news and bad news! Which do you want first?"
UGH-I of course said bad, because then the good will help ease the prior bad news. He blurted out " Well I hit someone and got in trouble! BUT>>>> good news, I get to stay in from recess the rest of the week and that's it."
I truly was shocked! He is not my aggressive child...at all.
However, the storyline goes....Jake approached 3 kids that were talking (free time in class) 2 being girls that are good freinds of his and one boy. The boy told Jake to Go AWAY- and Jake asked "why?" and the kid slugged him in the stomach. Jake was embarassed and mad so he walked away and sat on his desk. Those old male genes were kicking....he was embarassed and mad....this kid punched him AND in front of girls...so he walked back over and said "Don't hit me, unless you want it back!" and slugged the kid in the stomach back! Well, the boy went and told....now Jake is in trouble.
The topper of this....the teacher sent home a typed note to explain the incident and his disappointment in our son that he was feeling- WHATEVER!!....as I was reading I started laughing loudly(in private- no kids)....OK, Kyle Hamlin, so Paragon does stink....they cannot even afford computers with spell check...there were 5 typos in the letter the TEACHER sent home. I wanted to circle the errors and send it back- but Steve wouldn't let me....lol My kids are growing UP too fast!! HELP!

and another ....

--addiction: compulsive need for and use of Doodlebug Sizzlits!
What were they thinking putting another 50% off coupons for Joann's in the Sunday paper? Anyone know of a Sizzlits Addict meetings? I need a driver...as I know my van will not be able to pass Joann's!

steppin up

Finally! I bought the Sizzix sidekick. I love it. Thank you Beth and JoAnn's. Beth invited me to join her at lunch for a lunch hour trip to Joann's as we had 50% off coupons. I sat thinking as the morning passed waiting to go..... debating what I wanted with a 50% off coupon! I decided I was going to give in and get a Sizzix. Since you all have the big machine...I decided to go with the Sidekick. :-) I went back today with another coupon and got the Sizzlit set shown above....LOVE IT! Going back tomorrow again for another set at 50% off..thinking the birthday or flower set. For those of you unaware....all the Sizzlit sets I am sepaking of are Doodlebug designs and I am a Doodlebug JUNKIE! Love it all....actually cannot say I have found a Doodlebug thing I have not awwed or ooohed over....or just broke down and had to have!! NOW I am hoping the birthday fairy will grant my one wish for an alphabet set! Or at least the GCs so I can justify that purchase too.

I will bring my new toy to share when we crop next!

Crop?

Ready to scrabook again? Anyone for this Friday night again? The girls from work...a group of them are all planning to go to The Scrapbook Store? Any takers?
God love my angel of a hubby- he said 'GO FOR IT!' I was unsure- of course I would have to if my friends were coming!
We may just plan to go up north otherwise.
Let me know if anyone wants to go.

luckiest gal in the world

I am! Although my hubby has a stitched up thumb and says it is aching like mad....he came home stuffed his hand in a glove and did the dishes so that I would not have as much to do when I got home tonight! He said it hurt pretty bad but it was worth it if it meant I could relax for a few minutes tonight! He is my night in shining armor! Now I am off to do some laundry, get the kids' stuff together for their spirit week outfit and to play nurse... :-) Time to change the bandage!
Have a good night!

they day was going so good and then.....

I woke this morning and was on a roll....made brownies, had a healthy breakfast, made my meatloaf and had it in the fridge so we could go spend the afternoon with Gram...paid all my bills....meanwhile Steve and Kody ran to Lowe's, grabbed a new fixture, had it hung up and when they were cleaning up...it happened......
Steve sliced his thumb and Kody freaked! It was a bleeder!! He had it all over(spattered all over the kitchen, his face, the ceiling and UGH!).....the say he nicked an artery! EWWWWW! He got 6 stitches and Tetanus shot, I thought he was going down twice....but he survived. A little ghostly and whooped but he is home chillin. Poor Sluggo...for any of you who have seen the Blue Collar Comedy tour....you'll understand his new nickname! LOL
We still made the visit with Gram....played a 2 1/2 hr game of Scrabble and I WON! :-) I missed most of the sunshine today....or I was in the van rolling here and there...BUT I did see it! Hope everyone else had a good Sunday!

Calendar FUN

Thought I would share my latest creation. It's my desktop calendar! First is the cover, the second is actually the inisde right page and the other is the left page. I have added a family photo to the larger tag. This was a simple project....inspired by simplysentiments. I used my calendar stamp to make the monthly calendars. :-)

How time flies....

WOW! Back to work and school tomorrow...UGH! I really have enjoyed being off for 4 days in a row with the kids! We have had a lot of fun over their Christmas break! We got to spend more time hanging out as a family doing the cool stuff. Last night we wrapped up our plans for Spring Break....Back to Myrtle Beach we go. We researched many options and always came back to the awesome vacation we had two years ago in Myrtle Beach....It was SO relaxing. Unlike our Disney trip in 2000- it was cool because none of my 4 boys had been there...I enjoyed watching them all run around and enjoy but OH WAS IT CHAOTIC! We felt like we needed another week to recover. Now SC on the other hand- we just loved it so much we did NOT want to leave! Seeing your pics, Beth makes us want to NOW! We changed hotels but other than that ...same place but a new adventure....I believe we are going to take a pirate ship adventure on a schooner called the Jolly Rover...That or a dolphin/shrimping trip! Ok, back to work tomorrow...ready for Spring Break!!

tra·di·tion (tr-dshn) NOUN:
The passing down of elements of a culture from generation to generation, especially by oral communication

My favorite family tradition from my childhood was:
As a child my brothers and I would have hot cocoa (Hershey's that you make with sugar, milk on the stovetop) and peanut butter toast on Christmas morning.
This year I gave each of my brothers and their family enough Santa mugs for each of them along with the Hersheys cocoa and Jiff peanut butter. (Thanks to Barbara who finally found enough for me at Target! Love ya sis.)
Hope that everyone enjoyed their Santa mugs and the memories that they brough back and hopefully they even made some new ones.
Meery Christmas to all.....have a safe and blessed holiday. Love to all....and to all a good night! (The Barton boys were up at 438AM- YES, it was- they let us sleep until about 6! I am WHOOPED!!)

Saturday, December 24, 2005

We went to the Jackson County Fairgrounds tonight. The light show was amazing....we went a few years ago when they first started it and it was pretty lame.
This year was GREAT! We loved it. Even though my darn camera batteries died on me.

Crazy?

YES, I am! The boys and I are heading to the mall, Walmart and maybea movie(HP). ( and lunch too) They have been cooped up for the entire week and need to get some fresh air! Run wild with the rest of the crazed folks! Go BOYS GO!
Need just a few more things to complete my shopping!! (which actually I could go without)
**Oh can I please have another teenager for Christmas, Santa? Mine has just announced he is going to become Jewish ! Many of his favorite actors, musicians and such are so he thinks it must be cool. Of course he is full of it!
HE IS A HOOT sometimes.

Purple Rain?

Purple Rain?
No, not Prince's Purple Rain. Purple rain is my new favorite cocktail. Michelle and I had them after shopping on our weekend shopping getaway and we are both addicted. I researched and found the recipe on the internet and we gave it a try this weekend. YUM! The picture shows the array of ingredients you need to make a PURPLE RAIN!
Purple Rain =Tequilla, Gin, Vodka, Rum, Triple Sec, Chambord and Sour Mixer to taste.

Santa Grandpa

Santa Grandpa 2005!
This picture was taken at our family Christmas gathering at Santa (Grandpa)'s house. My dad started growing this beard for hunting season and I just loved it. I knew the kids would love it for Christmas*time too!! Infact, my neice, Alyssa Kay(10), told her girlfriends "See! I told you that my Grandpa was Santa!" when he went with my brother to Alyssa's Christmas program at school.
I think the beard is stiking...maybe because I also was/am a huge Kenny Rogers fan?
So....meet my Santa daddy!
Merry Christmas!

waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah- I have had the day from H- E -Double hockey sticks! Work was NUTS, I was covering someone else's job again today while I watch my desk sink under the MEGA piles of to do's! Then I tried to go out and do some running at lunch to get prepared for our Christmas up north this weekend.....and my van has NO BLOWER (heat) NO MUSIC , THE POWER WINDOWS will not work and NO WIPERS! (Mind you it is snowing like mad....and I am doing a Wendy's run for half the office since all the weenies were scared to go out!) OH! all the accessories work if you do not turn the van all the way over.....either turn the key back or only one notch forward, SO if you put the van in neutral and shut it off the wipers work, etc...ROTFL) I drove to Wendy's grabbed lunch and went straight back to call and whine to Steve. Then on my way home from work, van still impaired it decided to GO ALL THE WAY with the 'disabled card' and went into what Chrystler refers to as 'limp mode'. This means you are now driving a vehicle that will not go over 40mph and shift out of 2nd gear! HELLLLO? I hear you all laughing! (It goes back to the dealership for the 4th visit for something having to do with the sensors- mind you it is still under the fcatory 36000 mile warranty!! ) C'mon it gets better....then I decide to make the cute little individual pizzas for everyone (easy clean up so I can move on to decorating cookies for all the parties tomorrow). As I was pulling #3 from the oven I caught the edge of the pan with the oven door, flipped it out of my hand and like a true dork...I tried to save the day with my no-oven gloved hand! WOW- this was the first time I ever considered going to the walk in clinic for a burn....I did it good....blisters and all.
Do you all feel better now that you have had a good laugh? I do.
Have a happy and safe weekend!

Wednesday, December 14, 2005

Last night the kids has their Christmas musical program....and oh did they look handsome!
Dakoda was a stage hand- and he handed out programs, Steven sang with the fourth and fifth graders and Jakob was a sheperd in the play. The program was wonderful! There was only one small hitch....a fourth grade girl finished the first song with a very upset tummy.....yes, she tossed her dinner all over and she just happened to be in the back row....many classmates were involved as they happened to be within her direct fire. The poor baby! However, the show did go on!

Who are these hansome men??

Handsome Barton men! Imagine? All in ties??

Cherish the times

As you all know we woke to mounds of the fluffy white stuff and school closings. Much to Lil Steve's surprise, they do not cancel work for Mom's too! I think he was used to me working at the school, hence when school was cancelled so was work for Mom. :-)
Jake of course, sleeping like a snuggling bear cub in for the winter knew there was no reason to come out of his snuggy bed....no school to Jake means more SLEEP and his favorite kind of day....LAZY DAY with no obligations.
Dakoda, my hard nosed teen, woke with a huge grin knowing there was no school as he had been laying in bed from 530am till 630am hoping and praying that any minute now I was not going to appear in their room chanting "time to get up and rise and shine" as I do on normal school days. He grabbed a bite of breakfast, bundled up and headed out to make a path for Mom to get to work. He cleared the driveway, cleaned off my van, warmed it up and made a path to the van for Mom! Then as I was bundling myself up he gave me a lesson on how to get out of the drive without getting stuck. (all from a 13 yr old that has never driven in snow himself) As I headed out on my journey to work, my cell phone rang only to hear Dakoda's sweet voice cheering me on for not getting stuck and wishing me a safe trip to work. Followed by a sweet request to call him when I was safely at work so we would not worry. Oh my what a sweet young man he is....and for those of you that know him otherwise.....see, it is all a BIG FRONT when he acts so rough and tough....he is one sweet young man! I sit here at my desk wishing I could go home and give that sweet boy another BIG kiss and sit on him hoping that would stop him from growing another inch! Oh these are the days I will cherish forever!!

12 step program needed

This is one reason I have NOT been bloggin....I think I need a 12 step program for the Stephanie Plum books written by Janet Evanovich. I cannot read them fast enough.....and each one ends with a cliff hanger making you eager to read the next one. I am on #7 of 11- Janet writes a new one and releases it in the summer.....I need to pace myself.....I will never make it until summer .....Janet.....write faster!

Back 2 Bloggin

Ok, I will do my best to get back to bloggin! Thanks Beth for the prodding and encouragement to get back into the bloggin groove. I had laid mine to rest but was surely enjoying all the others!! LOL
